Slovenian Nature – Garden Inspiration

My country is not known for its rich horticultural history, nor for its large gardens and parks, but it does have something other countries do not. Given the natural conditions in Europe, Slovenia boasts considerable plant diversity, as there are 3266 types of vascular and seed plants recorded within an area of merely 20,273 km². This diversity is mostly related to the diversity of natural habitat types. Plant communities, geographical features of Slovenian territory and the contribution of our ancestors, who had diligently developed the Slovenian cultural landscapes, represent the most wonderful guide from which to extract ideas for garden and park design.
