This small garden in a densely built residential neighbourhood required a carefully considered approach to privacy. With neighbouring houses positioned very close together, we chose a diverse mix of trees, shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses instead of relying on tall, monotonous hedges or additional fencing.
The planting gradually screens views towards neighbouring gardens while softening existing fences and surrounding architecture. Different heights, textures and seasonal changes create a more natural and layered garden boundary, providing privacy without making the space feel enclosed. The result is a compact yet richly planted garden where vegetation plays an aesthetic, spatial and highly practical role.
