Herbal Garden a Little Differently (Šentjernej, Slovenia)

Herbal gardens can be very beautiful, but too often we stick to established shapes and content. Since the owners commissioned a complete landscaping of the house surrounding with potential use of the garden for the development of tourism, I studied the local flora, folklore, building heritage, cultural and natural sights … Because of desire for a herbal garden, I decided to upgrade the herbal beds by shaping them as a snail and thereby imitating the famous fossil from a nearby site. The other beds that adapt to this shape are planted with a fusion of the classic rural atmosphere and flora of the Gorjanci grasslands. Of course, I planted also modern types and varieties of garden perennials and shrubs here to use their potential for the benefit of the new garden.
